So, my stupid dog walked into this shot. On a scale of 1-10 what is the degree of difficulty getting her removed in PP? |

I'd just crop her out. Changes the photo of course, but the result would still be nice. Can't answer about PS. |

You can remove her with the clone tool but it will take time and may be noticeable, unless you're really careful. |

I would give it a 5 - I guess easy for an expert - of whom I am not one - but very hard for a novice. Certainly easier if you crop a little of the right to save reconstructing the bench arm - but the crop is better without it anyway IMHO. |

You could crop mine further too. |

Hey Paul, great work. The task seemed daunting to me at first (being a novice but, you've encouraged me!) Good idea regarding the crop-right. I'll have a go at it tonight. I will however try to keep the sun's rays in it and crop left a bit too. And yes, AuntiPode, I will clone out the pasta sauce! |

But you are an expert, Paul. |

You could print vertical. You could re-shoot. |

Paul also took the liberty of straightening your horizon and brightening the photo for you ... nice edits Paul! Good job on the cloning. |

Frankly, neither the bench nor background are especially noteworthy, while the boy is delightful. I'd likely have this shot with a 135L or 70-200 f/2.8L to bring the focus in on the boy's face. You can do that, of course, simply by cropping the image in a vertical format. The dog goes away, the telephone pole goes away.

Here is a Photoshop tip that may work in this case. If you have multiple images and one does not contain the dog ... than you can bring both images in as two layers, have Photoshop align the layers and than just mask out the dog. Very fast and easy. |
