I just got the complete nik package and heard that we can share our favorite custom settings "pre-selects". I was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to share what you have saved and works the best for you.

They are a great set of plugins. I suggest you go to their web site and watch some of the video's. By default, their standard settings are not the best for most so making changes to the sliders are really dependent on the image. You can play with the sliders and always bring then back to default.

Have you been to their site? I know they have or should have some training video's if not I would contact them, maybe the sales and they might be able to point you in the right direction.

I appreciate your attempts here, but i don't think you are getting what im relaying (may be that im not communicating effectively)

In this new Nik Package people can save their favorite settings (contrast, brightness, rgb etc.) "pre-selects" that they have found works best in particular settings. These settings can be shared- this is what im looking for.

I haven't found a need to use saved presets with the Nik plugins so sorry I can't help you out there.

Like LR presets and actions in PS, I'd be interested in other presets for Nik. But I havent found any.

The NIK products are great ... I use them all the time. I tend to use presets to process batches of images to the same look. Here the presets will not be useful for others. In a product like Color EFX Pro presets can help you setup some really custom image enhancements. They can be used to define a distinctive look ... your style. My advice would be to become very familiar with all of the filters in Color EFX Pro. Then you will be able to spot their use in professional portfolios and if you like the look than recapture it yourself. People that put the work and thought into developing distinctive looks in their images may not want to just give this away. I guess that I would fall into that category ... it just destroys the magic of the images. That seems to be the craft and artistry. Also, most filters have to be adjusted an tweaked for an image/project. After a while, you will have your own favorites and looks that you like.

Not so much a preset but a quick tip.

If you want a desatured/pastel look image use Nik's IR filter and tweak the settings so that you get a 'glow and little' detail. Then change the opacity and/or blending modes to bring back some of the original image.

Then paint back details such as eyes or objects of interest.

I don't have access to the Nik filters anymore so I can't tell you exactly what settings you need. I just use Photoshop to replicate the effect now.
