I attended my first MMA matches last night. I found it to be a great deal of fun, and uniquely challenging. These were the pics I found interesting...

kateman, thanks I can't wait to go to another one. I can't help but keep wondering what it would've been like to be a Roman photographer....where would the photo pit be at the colliseum what would be considered peak action when they unleashed the lions on the christians

generally, I was using a 1diii and a 5dii with a 85 1.8 and a 70-200. For the majority of the night I was at 3200 and ss of 500-640. I pushed most of them about a 1/4 stop in ACR and used noiseware professional to clean them up.

here's one straight from the camera for reference 5dii ISO 2500 f/1.8 ss500

John, nice series. I especially like the b&W shots. One question, were you just shooting through the chain link, or did they have dedicated cutouts like in ice rinks?

Ranger, thanks for the compliments. These were through the links, which was curved throughout. I whined like a little girl, but I honestly think a straight octagon configuration would've benefited everybody.

Next time I go, I'm going to bring a step stool, so that I can shoot over the fencing...then I'll look like a rock star....

Number two is exceptional. I'd love to have this degree of success in my first go shooting a sport!!

Blimey the things people do for a living, looks a difficult subject, I like the second shot most.
