I know most of the members here are pros, but just in case if any of you had been cheated before, it's time to get your money back.

"Customers seeking restitution will be able to submit claims to the New York Better Business Bureau from July through December."

Don't make me laugh. This has been going on for years and the Attorney General just found out. And, sure, they're going to "monitor" their busines practices, ha, ha. These are fly-by-night crooks, they'll tear down one "store" and set up the next day under a different name.
They don't need to pay fines, they need to spend time behind bars.

Quoted from the above article:
As part of the deal, five of the companies — Best Price Camera, Foto Connection, 1 Way Photo, 86th Street Photo and Broadway Photo — have agreed to change their business practices and accept continual monitoring. Two other companies, Camera Wiz and Sonic Photo, will close.

Common sense is all that is needed here. If it sounds too good to be true - it is.

Caveat Emptor

In this business you get what you pay for . If you go looking for cheap you will get cheated. No free lunches. BH Photo is the only place to buy gear - in 8 years of dealing with them, I have never once even had a single complaint.

Norman Camera is also very good. Adorama has gotten better.

The rest of them can go for a swim in the Hudson.

You know what I don't understand? When the camera stores sell the same merchandise at the same price. Grocery stores sell some things below cost to get you in and then sell other things higher than their competitor to make up for what they sold below cost.

Couldn't agree more. This has been going on for a long, long time, so it surprises me that it's only now that they are taken to task. Plus, as already noted, they will probably just pay the fine, and continue to cheat customers for a few more decades.

The fines are negligible compared to what they have scammed people for. Not even $1 million? They probably make that in a couple months. If the attorney general really cared, they'd contact Visa/Mastercard and make sure they couldn't process credit card payments any more.
