It has been a long time since I've been planning to build myself an online portfolio. At last, this weekend, I got sick with a flu (could be Swine Flu? Hehe) and couldn't go anywhere. And I ran out of excuses not to do this!

Check it out here: http://www.artandlit.com

On women, which is all I tried, the links don't work.

Everything seemed to work for me. I did not see a People link. All shots look nice and consistent.

you've got some lovely images-my advice: if you want REAL feedback, something specific and useful other than "nice stuff," post a few into a thread for feedback-otherwise, you won't get anything useful-all depends on what you intend with this post

best

Honestly, a frustrating site to navigate. Have DSL and thumbnails still took quite a while to load. The lack of consistency of the appearance/navigation between landscape and portrait images, along with the "Go to next image" that appears on the current picture are somewhat distracting. Also, the fact that your visitor sees the thumbnails but can't actually use them for any navigation makes me wonder why have the thumbnails at all?

The portrait images also seem a bit too tall - they don't fit on a "standard" dimension (or at least the more common one used these days) without forcing the visitor to scroll.

Not sure if you were looking for website feedback or image-specific feedback, but thought I'd share some thoughts...

Marcel,

Your galleries are very difficult to navigate, aside from being super slow. For example, my instinct is to click on the thumbnails to load the image I want to see. That doesn't work on your site. Nor does clicking on the current picture (which would have been my next guess since there are no directions). But that doesn't work either. You have to be on one side or the other of the big image to go to the Previous or Next one. That's a bummer because I don't want to go through them in sequential order. I like random access better.

Aside from that, I like the look and the pictures look great. But get a new gallery engine please!

I think you really have good images and a good eye for photography. If you design the site with more consistency, it would do wonders for you.

Alright!!!!! Thank you guys for the feedback.

Yes, I was actually getting feedback for the website. I just built the engine myself. hehehe.

The thumbnails are just to show that the images have preloaded and are ready to be viewed once you click next image.

Thanks!!!!

What a great site! Unique layout and very colourful images, extremely high res. Little slow to load - but probably because you are in the Philippines. I had the same problem building a friend's site.

Oh yeah and it's really har d to figure out how to navigate back and forth between the pics.

Well, when the first screen finally loaded, with the baby pic, I clicked on the Previous button, thinking it would scroll backwards to the last image of the thumbnail.... and the picture went away. And Never Came Back!! I click on Women, the thumbnails loaded (slowly) but no big picture! Never saw anything.

You said you built the engine yourself. I think you have a couple of loose sparkplug wires. It's not running very well.
