I'm heading to North Carolina on Friday. My wife and I are stopping in Asheville on Friday, hoping to visit the Biltmore. Saturday evening will headout towards the Outer Banks to meet with family. |

the biltmore house, the gardens, and surrounding areas are lovely. you can't miss there. there is a lot, so take your time. I think you are limited to photos outside - inside they won't let you take pix. |

Thanks for your reply. I look into these locations. I think my only regret is that we aren't spending more time in Asheville, but we'll make the most of it. |

You should head a few miles southwest of Asheville to Brevard where we have over 300 waterfalls in our county. |

Their isn`t much to shoot in the way of landscape around Duck other then incredible Sun Sets over the sound. But you are close to some of the best in the east. Head south to Oregon Inlet and the North end of Hatteras Island. With the right light and clouds it doesn`t get any better then this. Take a few days and head down Hatteras Island in the early morning or evening....it is a Landscape paradise. |

Peter and Pandorf thanks so much for the tips. It'll be tight packing in so much while we are in Asheville, but thankfully we'll have plenty of time at the Outer Banks. I'll start looking today to map out drives to these locations. I might forgo the Biltmore Estate to check out Brevard and the 300 waterfalls! |

The North Carolina Arboretum is FREE and it is just a few miles form Asheville. I just visitied a few weeks ago and it was worth a stop. |

Bummer on the storm, we had some roll through here like that, as well, but fortunately no damage at my house. The area had about 445 strikes in a 5 minute period, if I'd been up I may have tried for a shot or two. Go have fun and share the shots when you get home. |

I just came back from a week in the corner of carolina, relaxing in the mountains and doing a bit of shooting too - in Cherokee county in and around Murphy. Spectacular there! |

Tonight I got to catch up with an old friend from the military. We were stationed together in North Dakota and he's living in Asheville now. We had a great time, and I realized how fortunate I was to have the opportunity to meet with him years later. It's one thing to talk to another Vet, but it's another thing to talk with a Vet you worked with. You can share stories and remember events together. There's no need to explain who relates to who, and why this happened because there's a deeper level of understanding. We were stationed together for almost 6 years, so we had a lot of stories to share and a lot of you know what happened to so-and-so? As bad as the day started it out, the end totally made it a great day. |
