I'm a new poster here. I'm beginning a tool series, starting with drill bits and colored light. I'd love some feedback. I just started doing macro still life images.

I'm posting 9 images. Pick you favorite and tell my why.

Pretty cool series. Personally I like #5, but wish there was difference in the lengths of the individual bits. Perhaps have the center one the tallest.

I like the use of the three colors. However, and this is no "fault" of yours, but have yet to understand why the three Primary Colors are Red, Green and Blue. Red and Blue stand on their own, but Green is a blend of Blue and Yellow, therefore I think the Primary Colors should be Red, Yellow and Blue.

Just my $.02 in a $7.00 world.

I can't do much about the physics of primary light colors! I do have some neat images of color combinations...red + green light making a nice yellow, etc. I have a colored shadow series that is very neat too. It's not quite ready for prime time, tho.

I take your point that more contrast in heights would add drama to the image. Maybe I'll work on that.

Try turning the subject about 60 degrees to throw some perspective into the shot.

(By the way, who says that photography has to be expensive, see what sixteen bits will buy you.....)

Additive primary colors are Red Blue and Green, hence RGB on a monitor because the colors we see are from adding wave lengths of light.

Subtractive primary colors are Red Yellow and Blue, paint on a wall for example. If you paint red, then yellow, the mix takes away wavelengths that then make orange.

adding rgb will get white, taking away red yellow and blue will get white, taking away rgb will get black, adding red yellow and blue (subtractive case) will get black
