I was wondering if anyone knows where to get one of these right now in the US, non-ebay? I'd prefer an online transaction if possible from a reputable dealer.

Amazon lists it as currently available from Adorama.

Your best bet is to buy used, and even then its scarce.

I say it's worth it if you can get your hands on it. Might even be worth ebaying for it.

I wouldnt risk it. Stick to legit sellers.

Just in case. Even though I love mine some people have reported really bad performance and it turned out that a batch got out without some sort of shim. Although Tokina had appeared to be forthcoming with admitting fault you wouldnt want to run into an issue without a receipt.

I have this lens as my primary lens on my D300 and i love it. It is extremely sharp and the focus speed is really quick. I use it in low light conditions for concerts and sports and it has never let me down. For the price it is definitely worth it.

The 11-16 starts showing up between the 6th and the 10th of the month. Start looking next Monday, usual suspects Adorama, B&H, Beach, Norman, Samys.
Good luck

Just received a notification email from Norman Camera on this, though I bought mine at B&H months ago.

Good luck.

I'm surprised this lens isn't *more* hyped. Though I suspect it partly has to do with the fact nobody can get their hands on one.

Here's a cave crocodile shot at the Bronx Zoo. Very dark and shooting through murky water:
