Fact sheet on the Homeless
http://www.nationalhomeless.org/publications/facts/Whois.pdf

Basically different types of homeless individuals including a disprorportionate number of veterans, about 18% mentally ill (I thought it would be higher), high rates of substance abuse, and a predominantly indigent population with an increasing number of under 18 yo's, and a growing number of families.

Seems to have a load of well secured worldly possessions. Even the characteristics of the homeless appears to be changing. Nevertheless it's no picnic out there.

Got another view the other day. In addition to the stack of suitcases and briefcases, the tarp, and other miscellani, he has a couple of orange traffic cones and those rubberized lightbulb cages used on worksites! Interesting collection. And yes, "no picnic"!
