Anyone got the Quadra yet as I believe that it was due out in May?

The Swedish distributor has not updated their page so it still talks about a March delivery and have never had them in stock when I visited their site.

I'm curious to hear how well it works with the Ranger heads. I have two Ranger heads and the RF and it is tempting to have the option of a 2nd battery pack.

I am thinking July or late June. I am not upset, I'm enjoying my Rangers more than ever.

There were pics of some guy who had one... either Russia or maybe somewhere in Scandinavia.

So a few out in the wild but pretty rare so far.

You had me worried that I can't read. I thought I saw March on Aifo yesterday and just then saw May on the kit delivery.

I then check the packs and they say "OBS! Elinchrom Ranger Quadra börjar levereras i mars 2009. " So I can read Swedish correctly. Aifo just never updated every date reference

.........I am awaiting this product too. I'm sure there is another person somewhere in the world with this kit (aside from that Russian guy shooting by the swings).

So how come no one is thrashing this thread like the "MAX" thread?

Delays are a fact of life.

At least Elinchrom delivered an actual working model to show at the trade show and their web site. Yes delays are a fact of life but we know the finished model exists.

I should get mine this week or early next one. OK, this is Switzerland, were the stuff is produced.

Is the Quadra actually swiss made and not just swiss designed?

Only the RX series is actually swiss made (it says so on my RX ;-)) while the BX and D series are made in asia.

CAD designs and prototype models are just potential vapour wear. Just look at how many prototype cars have actually made it to the showroom.

Until there are preproduction items floating around at trade shows and tested by pros, it is fair enough to be sceptical about manufacturers claims.

Perhaps for his next new product, the Buffman should consider keeping it quiet and present a (pre)production model at a trade show to announce it and shock everyone. It will certainly prevent another MAX thread (hopefully)

AFAIK, my Ranger gear is Swiss made, too (as are the RX600's ).

He has working prototypes, and doesn't do trade shows. It's simply PCB bashing. For some reason this has become a popular sport. Radio Popper announce stuff before they've even finished the design, saying the end product is "weeks away". In RP lingo this can mean 20-40 weeks away. Who's bashing them?

It's not PCB bashing - the AB Max that were announced were a computer-generated image, that's all. What people were upset about was that the Einstein, which has been heavily promoted by Paul Buff himself for over a year, is still not in production and features keep getting taken out in the meantime. The difference is that PCB have not yet delivered on the Einstein promise, so why should people believe they will on the AB Max?

The difference is simple, unless you choose not to understand it (can't help you with that ): As of right now the Quadra exists, the AB Max does not. And neither does the Einstein.
