It looks like a real peach! It's been discussed a few times on this and other forums, since last fall. I just checked the .DE site (http://www.voigtlaender.de/cms/voigtlaender/voigtlaender_cms.nsf/id/pa_fdih7jzkae.html), and its sticker price is 1.999 EU - a bit steep IMO. This is the first time I've seen a price for it.

Last time I used a folder (6x6) was 1976, and it was 30-years old even then. The new CV/Fujifilm folder has two intriguing qualities: factory-fresh smell, and an auto-exposure mode. I'm getting one.

And doesn't digital make film cameras look inexpensive?

I was interested as well, but then I compared the price to a used Mamiya 7/II and a lens or two....

+1

Agreed, interesting and cool that Fuji is still doing stuff like this. Price-wise though, I'd take either the aforementioned Mamiya or better yet one or two of the Fuji GS(W)-670/690 series.

Nifty, but I don't understand the price. It can't cost that much to develop or build a camera like this.

Low-rate production drives the price up. It does cost a fair bit to develop a camera that has no relation to any previous camera parts-wise, and prospective sales are going to be rather low (I'd be surprised if it sells more than 1-2000 units over the entire production run). That means a high cost of production as you are making parts in small batches and you also have to amortize the development cost over the small run (even if it only cost say $50k to develop, that's going to be a $50 per camera sunk cost) and thus a high price.

It does have one major advantage over the Mamiya 7II, you can put it in your pocket.

With the death of optical printing, I see no point in shooting with one of these especially if you're going to scan the film. I would rather shoot digital directly.
Now if you print your own BW, then that would be another story altogether.

Pocketable high-MP equivalent camera with huge sensor. Nothing even vaguely similar available in the digital world.

Wow, that seems kind of expensive for a folder! You can get a nice Zeiss folder for much cheaper! Maybe not as refined, but works just fine Interesting to see Voit put out a new folder, very sweet!

I carry my 6x9 folder with me when I'm hiking and don't want to carry my bigger cameras Great design, these folders!

"With the death of optical printing"

Reports of it's demise have been greatly exaggerated. ;-)

Well, I live in a city of 20 millions, and there is only 1 lab that does optical b&w and none in color.

Yeah, I don't know of any commercial labs near me either that run a minilab that still does optical. But I do my own color and black and white darkroom work so ultimately it's a non-issue to me personally (though I do need to finish setting up my darkroom asap)
