I have a 2690 WUXi2 with Spectraview and I could not be happier. As noted above the spectraview is awesome. Painless!! Just plug the puck in and place it on the target and click continue, a couple minutes later....done!
Simple and accurate.

Sounds like NEC is the way to go! Thanks for your opinions. But all "searching" sez Spectraview is no longer made. Correct?

Ok I screwed up. I see it now. B&H is having a great sale on the NEC LCD 2690W2-BK-Spectravision.

How does the Apple monitors compare to these that have already been mentioned?

I have a new MacBook Pro 13" and an pleased, but need an external monitor. I've read this thread and was thinking about on of the NECs, but I'm now wondering if any monitors other than apple support the "Mini DisplayPort"?

Suggestions?

Another NEC2690 with SVII. I have the version 1, which in my opinion is better than version two because version 2 lacks A-TW polarizer.

Ah ha! I think I answered my own question.

From the apple website...
Mini DisplayPort (video out)
Connect to an external display or projection system that uses a DVI, Dual-Link DVI, or
VGA connector. You can purchase adapters for supported video formats.

It looks like the world is wide open with adapters.

I'd like to update an earlier question that was unanswered...

Any experience with Apple's new LED monitor and how it compares with best in breed?

Thx!

I'd love to know any reports on the Apple LED monitor as well.

Don't forget LaCie, great monitors in class with Eizo but not as pricey.
