Can You Help Me?

I'm very new to this bird stuff. This morning was my first try. OBsurfr George turned me onto a cool spot and even let me use his 600 for a while.

I can't decide if this is an immature Great Blue Heron or perhaps a Green Heron or something else. Any help would be appreciated.

My first thought was a young Reddish Egret, they look so similar to that, but no, they have charcoal colored legs in my pics.

I agree with the Little Blue i.d. Field marks - Bluish body with purplish head, bluish bill with dark tip, yellow-green legs. Nothing else has all these features. Now you can be sure

Put me on the list for agreeing with the Little Blue ID. Definately not a Reddish Egret.

Very nice shot by they way!

That is a rather intersting comp, with a very distant looking BG. Nice shot, perhaps a bit bright on my monitor. ID's are easy when 'fishbio' Larry shows up

Henry, you are off to a good start, however that borrowing of a 600 could spell trouble for you Enjoy and I hope to see many more from you!

Could be a tri-color with a pigment desease. One can never rule that out, can one?

Nice effort, however I really do think that with long lenses such as the 600, practice makes perfect.

If any further confirmation is needed, it is indeed a Little Blue.
