This is a different frame of the nutria I last posted, cloned out stick
in front or head......notice the turtle head in the reflection.
Partially processed by a curve bump in A and B channels, LAB mode.

got some nice clarity and color I think
1/30, f/5.6, ISO 640

Dave I do like the feel, the light, the motion of this shot. Well done. I'm not to sure about the crop, I'm not a big fan of 50/50 subject and reflection. To me I would like some more room up top and maybe less down at the bottom.

Dave I compared the two images side by side and I like this second image better as it has definitely more punch. I still like the smooth feeling of the water in the first image better though, as here looks "harder" if you know what I mean. About the composition: it is a matter of personal interpretation, but I never hesitate to sacrifice a reflection for the goodness of the framing and composition, especially in close shots. In any case your PP rocks.

Thanks for input Tim. I played with that crop all over the place.
The frame was vertical and a tough one.

This last one is much cooler and a bit more contrast. I hope to play with some more like this with very slow shutters and vary what
is overall reflection on surface.

Dave, I have stared at this image for quite a while now, it really plays games on my mind and eyes. It is wild that you see what looks like a full round tire, the dock posts play mind/eye games too.

Maybe for me the reflection is just a bit to clear making it a bit too dominant in this soft light setting. Any way to 'mute' or soften just the reflection and perhaps consider a little less of the bottom of the frame. The turtle head is bizzarre

I know what you mean about that reflection Karl, it is so clear and we are dealing with depth perspective in the tire, post etc. It looks good cropping off almost all the reflection though

Result is excellent Dave, nice touch in the lab colorspace
Curious to know how hard you hit the A and B channel and whether or not you sharpened in the lightness channel?

Dave just messing with the crop, I was thinking one whole tread into the reflection was looking good for me. Still trying to figure this out.

But then I noticed the turtle head in the reflection but not the subject.

Damn, I like the turtle head in the original.

Just some thoughts while thinking about this. Nice lesson, loving it.

Interesting! Good Shot. I was up to my waist in water when I first encountered the wake from these big souped-up muskrats. I was concerned that it was an alligator!
