I recently purchased a Leica 35-70 f/4 to use on my 1D classic and I have been reading some reviews about other people's experiences with using Leica and Zeiss lenses on older Canon bodies. |

The ID's resolution is low enough that many lenses will outresolve its sensor. |

Almost any lens will outresolve a 4MP camera. But a lens outresolving a sensor is generally regarded a good thing, resulting in sharp pictures. |

Even a Leica 28/2.8 ROM could outsolve a 22Mp 1ds3. |

The lens outresolving the camera is a good thing in the sense of getting maximum image quality from your 1D. It is not a good thing in terms of getting maximum performance from the lens. |
