I was going to sell this lens unconverted, but I changed my mind and sent it in for the conversion.
I hope it's worth all the money I put in there....

Does anyone know a nice gallery which has pictures taken with the lens?
Perhaps, it'll comfort/calm/assure me a little more.

I think photovillage in NYC has a copy already converted for EoS for sale. Give Rich (IIRC) a call, Take your 1Ds2 and hop on the subway....

Edit - yup. CZ 17-35/2.8 N, Conurus converted - $3495. About 1/3 down the New Arrivals section on their online shop page.

The store is about 5 blocks away from me.
Wow...the price they charge for that lens is outrageous.
$3500?
Why so expensive?

Anyway, I need to look at some nice pictures taken with it.
Got any links for such gallery?

Paul - wait till you get your converted copy back to you - pop that lens on a 5D Mk II and then report back if it was worth it

The 17-35N is worth $2900 - $3100. Depending on the condition of the copy. If you can find one brand new in the box - with original case, paperwork, etc. , that is sharp and in calibration, you're looking at around $2k+. Add the cost of conversion, shipping & insurance, and the wait to get it converted and $3k isn't too bad for a converted copy in good condition and readily available.

Maybe because it is a shop that's offering it for sale, they need to factor in overhead costs and some sort of warranty on the lens.

Add to this, the cost of the original contax metal hood which goes for $250-$350 - if you can find one. Now add the cost of a good quality B+W or Heliopan 95mm UV filter or C-PL and pretty soon you're looking at around $3600+ for the whole package.... and guess what - it is well worth it

I have moved away from Canon and shoot Nikon primarily now. The D700 was calling out for me and I couldn't resist. Olympus fills in my everyday mundane needs when the Nikon gets too bulky to carry around and with the Olympus digital system, I can still use most of my alternative lenses.

Even though I no longer have a canon body, I am still hesitant to list my 17-35N (BNIB converted copy) up for sale... if that's telling you how much I like this converted N-mount lenses. For now, my copy is a very nice paperweight and sits beside the OM 24mm f3.5 PC Shift lens (another unused lens) on my desk.

He actually cut his price. I believe we was originally asking $3900, or thereabouts.

I had actually put my N17-35 (of course, unconverted) on B/S forum for $1800, and lowered to $1600, but no one was seriously interested in buying it.
I had the original filter, and the hood as well.

I then changed my mind, and decided to convert it.

Oh, well .... I guess I'm destined to try this lens...

If it's better than C/Y 35-70, which i think is a killer lens, I'll be more than liking it.
