So I just wanted to come out and let everyone know that I am another FM Wedding Forum stalker. The talent in this forum is absolutely amazing and I am blown away daily.

About me:

As you may or may not know I am an insurance man by day and photo enthusiast by night. I like all types of photography but love to check out the wedding forum the most. I have experience in media, but it's only on the video side. My friend and I started a video production company while we were in college about 5 years ago and paid our way though doing all kinds of work for local businesses and organizations. My friend was the actual talent and I ran the "business side" of the company. We did in fact do 3 or 4 weddings and always had very good results. Since my friend is now an on air news anchor for a local television station the production portion of his time had to go. (Plus he couldn't compete with his news station's production team).

I am very interested in learning about wedding photography and have decided to take the advice of many here and try to find someone that will show me the ropes. I know the pressure involved in weddings from the video company and do not want it all on me while I'm trying to learn.

I also know that many on these boards hate craigslist and all that post on it with a passion. However, for what I am looking for it may work. I just posted the following ad and will see what kind of response I get soon.

So a big hello to everyone here! Nice to meet all of you. Any thoughts on my listing?

HERE'S THE AD:

I am an extremely professional 24 year-old photography enthusiast in the Lake Norman area that would love to gain experience in the field of Wedding Photography. I currently have a full time job in a professional environment and am an excellent communicator. I love to shoot all types of photography and have experience on the video side of media production (including weddings). I would be willing to second shoot if requested, but I wouldn't mind assisting you in any way possible (even if it meant carrying your gear or assisting with lighting). I would work for the experience. I am simply a student of photography and want to learn from someone experienced. I primarily live in West Virginia, but have a home on Lake Norman and have a flexible travel schedule.

My gear list includes:
Canon 40D
Canon 17-55 2.8 IS
Canon 50mm
Canon 70-200L 2.8
Canon 420EX flash

If you would like to speak to me personally feel free to email me anytime for my personal cell phone number. Again, I work in a professional environment on a daily basis and am very personable. I deal with business people regularly and you should have no worries about my appearance or conduct at your event.

Thanks for the consideration

In all honesty, if Ben is a lurker, he is without a doubt the most thorough lurker to ever hit this board.

Welcome Ben. If you are serious, I'm sure someone will help you out.

Good luck,
Tad

That might be the funniest thing I've seen on here in a while. 2 posts from 2 poster with 20 posts total. Where's the partridge?

Dang, if you were here, we'd love to have you around just for the business advice. I'd trade you wedding photog experience for business training! Anyway, we'll probably be up in Wheeling some time this summer, so I'll let you know when that is. maybe you can meet up with us and we can talk shop.

Nope. I'm not a lurker. Lurkers kind of just hang around (I think). I'm here obsessively. I am actually stalking all of you here (in a non-threatening kind of way). Ha Ha Ha.

Hey Tad-

Thanks for the welcome. I am usually pretty thorough which I think is why I'm never satisfied with my pics and don't post alot here.

I also wanted to say that I checked out your pics from your first wedding in Sam's thread. I can only hope that if I every decide to take on a wedding that it turns out 1/2 as good as that one. There were some awesome shots there, first wedding or not.

Ben
