Banding / Black Dot Issue with workaround.

If you bought one or are considering, FYI: http://www.slashgear.com/canon-issued-service-notice-on-5d-mark-ii-banding-and-black-dots-problems-1827058/

From Canon: http://www.canon.com.au/support/customer/default.asp?DXI=KnowledgeBase/Customer/KBArticleForm&File=KB01657&productID=eos5dmkII

And always follow directions exactly if you update firmware.

I can't find them on my copy. Just want to see some actual pictures showing how the defects look like.

Never saw banding but I was able to get the black dots to appear. Only showed up in an astrophoto of a star field, and a wide angle, far-away, underexposed shot of a Christmas tree.

I returned my 5D II however because I kept getting error 20. Happened during a wedding and it had to sit in the bag for 20 minutes. That's simply not reliable.

Every company has an issue with products at some point. With the net everyone claims to understand what it means to have "problems" with quality control. Sure, somethings need to be fixed but this aint new in the world of manufacturing. However, knowledge is new to everyone else.

Peace

Canon seems to have problems in about every major SLR they've released lately. Not exactly the first time this has happened.
