Very nice imagery. I like your thought process going into this one. Now, how did you manage to get that close to the salt pile?

Reality is that I knew salt was generally cubic in its crystal nature. From there I went to work with my 105 macro and off-camera strobe with window side light. After numerous [failed] efforts to get what I wanted, I decided to blow up the image to look closer to the pixel level and see why I wasn't getting the detail I wanted.

Hark! There it was! The detail was there, but I simply didn't have enough magnification. Well, I was out of magnification, so I did the next best thing -- "Have crop tool, will post!"

Ah. So the glass fell over, then you collapsed onto the table next to it with the camera. Maybe we shouldn't be drinking while were photographing.
