I would prefer to have the free head actually in my cart before I click proceed to check out...

What I would do is either phone or E-mail for conformation that you will get the free head per Profoto promotion.

mmurph is a little bit quicker today

He is right about having a relationship with someone at a pro shop.

Call? Umm, I am embarrassed to say I didn't even think of that as I am a little spoiled with the whole "digital age" thing and usually just do all purchasing online so I can avoid talking to people.... lol.

Cheers,
S6ix

you should definitely call...when i bought my b2 as well as the acute b's, the free heads were not showing on my orders because of the way the "kits" were inventoried in the store computer system.

I have always had good sucess working with Calumet, especially once you get to know specific individuals there. At that price level they have a little more of a professional, boutique-type service that I am really coming to appreciate.

Ditto. I received a Profoto Striplight yesterday from Calumet Chicago, and Howie called this morning to ensure safe delivery. Never had that kind of follow up before. Too bad about the sales tax.

System6,
I thought the acuteB would not be enough to overpower the sun, but with a magnum head I have been having great results in full daylight. The 600w has been more than enough with that magnum head-Not so with a large SB or my octobank, but magnum....been great.

Hey there. Nice pic of James Stewart on your website. We sponsored him for years (Moto Tassinari) when he was kicking a-- on 2-strokes, before the AMA in all it's wisdom swayed the rules... lol.

Thanks for the magnum info. I've heard from others that option works quite well. I actually just scored an incredible deal on a Profoto 7b and free head from Calumet this morning, so I am now finally a happy man as it was what I really wanted from the start they are just pricey as all hell.

Cheers and thanks for all the helpful info,
S6ix

WAIT A MINUTE! stiksandstones is married to Leigh Donovan?! Dooode... that's awesome! Back in another lifetime when I managed a ski/bike shop and used to race DH and I am pretty sure I saw her race at Mt. Snow and Mt. Saint Anne. I think it's safe to say she probably beat my time by about 3-4 minutes... which might as well be days in DH racing... lol.

Cheers,

Cool, congratulations!

Did you give Jack a call? Was he helpful?

I have both 600 Ws and 1200 Ws portable units (Visatec Litepac and Broncolor Mobil, respectively.) The 600 is usually adequate when used in close, single person, etc.

That partly depends on where you live though. In Michigan we lose at least 1/2 stop over the sunny blue skys that I used to have in Colorado. No humidity there, it makes a big difference. Then of course we hardly see the sun anyway here ....

There are some other modifiers that can be high gain like the Magnum, with a little more flattering light. The Para surprisingly enough is one of them, given it's size.

I imagine a 5' octodome without the baffle and face would have decent output. One time where those goofy output charts might actually be useful, comparing the loss of one modifier against another.

Best,
Michael

Haha, ya, my wife used to pin it. I didn't think anyone remembered those old days.

Are you calling me old? , well she was definitely BIG TIME then. I remember we received a ton or promotional stuff featuring her. I think she was riding for Mongoose at the time. Does that sound right?

Cheers,
