Here is a picture I took last weekend. Let me know what you think. But be kind.

I would suggest that making his image a much larger portion of the photo would significantly improve it.

I'd like to see a larger version of the image to better comment.

Nice, relaxed pose with excellent eye contract. Background is pleasant, unobtrusive, adds dimension to the image and dof is well-chosen. More vignetting then I would choose. Maybe AuntiPode's suggestion would also bring the eye in toward the subject as the vignetting tends to do.
Overall, I think this is an excellent job.

I agree with AuntiPode's suggestion about his size re the image.

I like the lighting, particularly the light above and right to fill-in his face and highlight the hair.

The one thing that bothers me is I find my eye moving to the shoes - I don't know why but they are a distraction to me...perhaps if they were slighty blurred and burned in a bit?

If you have a chance, would you mind posting a larger version?

Thanks for sharing,

regards,

Bob

It is very nice. I agree that boy larger in frame would be better. I think the vignetting is a bit strong and it would be a bit better with less centre and room to right.

It is very nice - I am being picky.

Kingdon!,

But be kind?!?!?! You're tough! You can take it

Are you ready for another cup of coffee?

Great portrait. Great light! Is this one of your kids or is this from one of your school shoots?

You know that I am a sports/horse shooter so my comments would be worth exactly what you paid for them. But I do agree with everything that has been said.

Thanks for everyone who gave me comments. I am going to try to re-post a picture, using several of your comments. Thanks
