I posted this in the nature forum here http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/714412

But I thought I would post this in the B&W forum as well to get some more eyes to look at this.

Original text:
"I got to go out on Dale Hallow lake in northern Tennessee the day before thanksgiving, and the water was 18 feet below normal, and this exposed the fish houses.

I have many of these, all of which I converted to B&W. This one for some reason was one of my faves.

Taken with an XSi and a 17-55mm
Comments welcome."

I was hoping this conveyed some nice textures.

Greetings, Maced.
The ground and stump do indeed have nice texture. However, I messed around with the image and did some sharpening. Hope you don't mind. I deleted afterward out of respect for your ownership. Anyhow, it really brought out the texture in a nice way (to my eyes, anyway).
Others may disagree on the sharpening, however. Try it and see what you think.
I believe I used unsharp mask at about 40/4/3 settings.

nah I don't mind. I know most people around here don't do that sort of thing with bad intentions.

I sharpened mine using Aperture (upped the "definition")

Great suggestion. Unsharp Mask does work wonders, especially when made into a larger radius. I enjoy the image as well, but the USM would help bring out a lot more texture.
