i just got my 5d2 and noticed that i can't open any of the raw images. i usually shoot jpg but when i tested the raw files i learned that lightroom and photoshop cs3 wont open them. BUMMER. Anyone know whats going wrong here or a workaround?

Adobe released a new raw converter but it only works with CS4 and wont support any CS3 photoshop software...WTF!!!

Lightroom is supposed to release 2.2 in December and support the camera, but i really need to figure out a way to open these files sooner than that.

Any suggestions? anyone with a similar situation? I'm new to Raw so please forgive me if these are stupid questions.

Use the free DNG Converter to convert the files to DNG and then load them up in CS3.

Use Canon's DPP program? I thought it came with your camera.

Thanks folks, i never checked any software that came with the camera.

Are the DNG conversions fast? i usually shoot thousands of frames and i'm worried this extra software might slow down the workflow even more.

Thanks for the tips you guys & gals!

The pain of early adoption. You'll have to adjust your workflow until LR 2.2 comes out or upgarde to CS4?

You should check that DPP software.

Shawn,

I've used the free DNG converter, then import into LR. The DNG converts at the rate LR exports the JPG, not too bad. Convert the entire folder, leave it for a couple minute then come back and import. I know, a pain, but LR 2.2 should be out anytime now.
