I know "first light" is an astronomical term but it seemed appropriate Received the 800 yesterday and so decided to take it out for a spin this morning at the PA Baylands. Sadly, didn't see anything new. These images don't do the lens justice, guess I'll just have to keep shooting until I get something really spectacular.

A couple of observations for those who care. The 2 less pounds of the 800 over the 600 is noticeable. The AF speed of the 800 vs. the 600 + 1.4x is slightly faster. The bokeh of the 800 vs. 600 1.4x is definitely better. The better IS does make a difference when shooting handheld or on a monopod. Rationally speaking the 800 probably isn't worth the $$$ over the 600 but I like it anyway and have no regrets.

No need to curb your enthusiasm, Aravind My favorite here would be the killdeer, just kind of partial to those guys anyway. Big congrats on the new toy.... er... um... piece of photographic equipment
