Its an interesting shotbut not overly esthetically pleasing. The white balance is too redish, and its a bit too centred and too cluttered. To do a better job minimize the background - perhaps just a painting, move a bit more off centre and don't cut off at the knees and fix the white balance.

So if not photoshop, how?

camera was on tripod,set exposure to 20 seconds f29..turned on self timer,pressed shutter sat down for 10 of the 20 seconds and got up..did a few others this I liked best heres another one...

I think you have a good technique, now you have to work on making the composition and white balance work so that the picture is interesting. Thanks for the description of what your are doing.

i can see in this shot of the door my sensor is dirty need to keep below f11 he he
or get a sensor brush
