The junco have moved into PA. I do find them a pleasant bird with somewhat beautiful color. I noticed this little one last weekend. Tumor Whatda ya think? Also a grackle for your viewing pleasure.

That's where I stuck my piece of gum

My big questions is, is that a pellet from a pellet gun in the front part of that picture At least your Junco looks like he is doing well

Ted,

it does look like a tumor or cyst. One of my Lovebirds had one on his wing - - he lived for almost a year with it, then it got so huge & he passed away....

Lil - going back to her cleaning up after the wildfires.... so no picks. Sorry

I think it looks more like the backside of a big, blood-filled tick.

Hard to tell. That thing looks kind of gray on my monitor, Ted. And BTW you should post these in sRGB as people like me don't have browser with color management.
I like the last shot and the iridescence created by the use of the Flash.

That's a well-fed tick, no doubt about it.

It could be an ear infection, but I'm thinking....tick.

Kinda seems like an odd place for a tick to attach but it looks like one to me. It is just the angle of the bird's head or does it seem to rotate counter-clockwise in image 1 and image 2?
