Didn't really see much on this but perhaps my search skills aren't all that great. I apologize in advance if this topic has been beaten to death. I am considering a 1D III and was wondering if there is any difference between the cams sent in for repair vs those that came off the line with the right mirror box. I did notice that the blue dots seem to sell at a premium but at the end of the day is one better than the other? thnx

Different copies of this camera seem to be so erratic that accurately differentiating between the various dots and cameras is almost impossible. In theory, there should be no difference. In reality? Who knows.

I have owned blue dot, yellow dot and pre dot with fix. I have yet to have a problem with any flavor.

That being said, If I were to buy and the prices are so close now on cameras with low shutter count, I would go for a dotted version.

I only say this because of another thread on this forum about repair nightmares at Canon.

I've had three MIII's two where early models that had the sub mirror problem and one later version, after the Canon fix on the two early versions and the later model all work perfectly!!! So the fix worked for me and the newer model was just fine outa the box!! Have always had great service from Canon.
