This Hooded Merganser drake thinks he is a Mallard. He keeps company with a small flock of Mallards. Not only does he think he is a Mallard, but he thinks he is a Mallard hen! I don't know what his parents did to him!

I really wanted an image of him displaying. It was tough sometimes to get him isolated away from the Mallards.

Dang Jody,
Now I don't even feel like trying to process my lowly Merganser images from the weekend. That's one fantastic image there. An awesome pose to go along with great lighting, detail and framing. As usual, you set the bar pretty high and are an inspiration to the rest of us.

Well, look what the cat dragged in. 1st Maggie shows up after months of hiding in the closet and then Jody makes a rare appearance. Must be a full moon or something

Don't come any finer than this, Jody, and earns my seal of approval

Excellent Jody! What light. I just deleted a bunch displaying like this because they were noisy. Man, I'm sure glad I did! Great detail and shadows on the bird.

Sprung a leak in the stern and he's sinking? Lovely shot, as always.
