The holes are threaded, one a 1/4" and the other a 3/8". Check the B&H web site under the specifications tab for further information. |

All the way open it's about 3 1/4" and all the way closed (jaws touching) it's about 2 3/4"...all measured using the very scientific "hold a tape measure up next to it and eyeball it" method. |

I prefer these.... on one, I have a RRS small ball head and small lever clamp for a killer impromptu camera mount. I have 3 more w/ small Hama ball heads w/ cold shoe mounts for grab anywhere speed light placement. |
