Another series from my recent visit to the Bosque del Apache NWR in New Mexico. While I did take along the 400 5.6 I never took it out of the bag and shot exclusively with the 500 f/4 during this trip - many times hand held. There's nothing particularly special about any of these but hope you enjoy them at least in part.

SHC = Sandhill Crane - a type of burd.

You may critique them if you wish.... or drop me a nice comment or two or three - your choice entirely.

Does a 'nit' from witt count for anything

I am glad you said there was nothing particularly special here ZOOM, just makes me look harder for little things that make them special. Well, couldn't find a thing..................................................................................................................................JK Mr Phorum Policeman

#1 interesting drop shadow
#11 the headless flier
#12 perhaps like Dave's GBH trying to form letter of significance

#13 is wonderful #3 great isolation processing and color!

Great shots Ken, 7 and 13 are my favourites. Too bad about cutting the head off in #6.

Ken,

9 and 13 are my favorites. The flight shot of the SHC is great! Nice and sharp and wonderful exposure. Could I suggest a slightly tighter crop to number 9 to get rid of the cut-off tree tops in the bottom of the frame? Maybe a little clone stamp to retain the original ratio?

Great shots nonetheless!

#7 is fantastic. #13 would be fantastic as well for me if the background birds weren't there or cloned out.

Ken,

Wonderful series! And your 500mm seemed to pay off here. My favorites are
3,7 and 13. Did you take in-flight shots handheld?

Nice series Ken. Love the fall colors for the bg's. 13 is a stunner, congrats on that one. Nice shots of these guys doing what they do.

I believe # 3 is the highlight of this series, Ken. IMO it just stands out.

Yet another rockin set Ken
Enjoyed each and every image with 7 and 13 as standouts
#3 however, is beyond doubt one of the finest images I've seen to date. Magnificent shot. I've got a little cut on my lower jaw where it hit my desk but it was worth it

Ken,

Appreciate the humility Zoom but... I think some of these are pretty cool.

RTH is superb.
Great light and color in #3.
#4 has a really cool 3D look, excellent.
#7 is my fave and THE bomb.com sir, great eye contact and excellent under wing detail.
The rest, maybe not particularly special, but still good stuff man. Very nice work.

Dave,

If I flip them I suspect they will merely see you upside down

I had a blast out at BDA. Plenty or Burds and Monkeys to go around for everyone

Thanks Dude!
