I prefer the color. Not sure why, but the seams bother me.

Hi,

I noticed you have not posted much since joining this forum. With a cute kid like that, I would expect there to be loads of images of the baby. Some people on this forum evidently don't care to see pictures of babies, but from my POV, they are cute and a very good subject to photograph...and they most certainly are "People." So I hope you read that as encouragement to post more photos or comments on others photos.

Both images look "good."

Cute kid. Nice POV and "pose." Good composition. Nice use of the support (black ottoman or whatever it is).

The expression is not as cute as I would hope to get for a special portrait. But...I am not the parent...and not the photographer either.

I prefer the warmer one (not BW).

Something about them seems a little bit "underexposed" to me (not much) and I suppose it is the eyes. Where is the highlight? I would probably tweak it a bit to get a little more range (try moving the white point). And...I would eliminate the bow/ribbon too.

I hope these comments help you and encourage you.

Should I bother cloning out the seams on the ottoman

Very nice. As steady mentioned, it looks just a tad dark, but that can easily be fixed. I also wish the expression was better...but I know how difficult that can be!
