Hello all,

I've been a wedding photographer for 3 years now and have my contract down for weddings. This winter I'm starting portraits, family, seniors, etc. and I wanted to ask you all what the standard procedure is contract-wise.

As of the first few months I'll mostly be doing on location, shooting 30min-1 hour sessions and then previewing the images when they are edited in my studio with the client. At that time I'll be taking their orders.

I'll be collecting the sitting fee at the time of the booking and I'll take 50% of the print order when they order, and 50% on delivery.

I'm not asking for anyone to get specific with a contract for me or anything like that. I'd just like to know what kind of contract I need and maybe some examples of your contract for such shoots would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance for everyone's help.

Andy

i follow a couple simple guidelines

1) i retain copyright of the photos and may use them at my discretion for self promotion
2) the photos may not be reproduced and are for personal use only. Any other use (ie commercial, promotional etc) must be cleared by me first

Thanks euro. That's a piece of my wedding photography contract, so I guess I'll just shave sections from that contract that don't apply to portraits.

I appreciate your input.

If anyone else has any input, please let me know.

Thanks!
