Quite nice I think but I would lose #3, reminds me of Elaine dancing on Seinfeld, not up to the quality of the rest.

I can see what the #5 voters are so happy about, but # 4 is a pretty cool shot. I like the feel of it.

Thanks for the post.

#1 & 5 works well for me, 3 & 4 are the classic 1/3rd composition which is commonly used for commercial use (titles or text placed in the space etc.) although the models poses should have been better. Good job otherwise!

Number 4 makes the models leg look too fat. Always try not to photograph peoples legs head on when sitting, makes their calves look fat. Have the model turn slightly and maybe move forward on the seat so her calf isn't pressed against the seat.

I see what gunfighter is saying about #4 - and I didn't notice it until he pointed it out. But I just love the facial expression in #4. It's still my fav. Nice shots.

#5 for me as well, even though I find #3 quite interesting as well, classic "S", with a twist

my favorite is #3...
the posing, the shadow (and i'm not a lover of cast shadows!), the negative space...

What's wrong with her legs in 3?

I think they are talking about the legs in #4. They did press up against the chair causing her legs to plump up a bit. I will pay more attention to that next time.

Thanks for all the compliments fellas. Also thanks for everyone who posted critiques. I find myself running over "do's and dont's" while I shoot. Some of which I've read in books and some of which I have read here. You are all very helpful indeed.

Lighting on the other hand, I find, is a very hands on process. The more you shoot, the more knowledge you get. I really must shoot more. Damn that day job of mine.

In case anyone was wondering: 1 and 2 were shot in natural light, 3 and 4 were shot using 1 light with a 5' umbrella, 5 was shot with a 5' umbrella and another 5 footer (behind and above camera) as fill. All Elinchrom!
