Interesting, to me at least, how everyone uses their cameras. Nice to see film cameras showing up, even though I don't use film anymore.

I only included digital SLRs. Perhaps I misunderstood the question.

I travel with at least 3 bodies and almost always carry 2 bodies, unless it is for an activity where climbing is involved.

Actually I was thinking of dslr's when I posted the poll. I'm surprised so many film cameras are showing up.

At least you didn't say your poll was too small...

But to contribute seriously, I always have a minimum of two, because I shoot professionally. But I usually have 3, and they're always fluctuating. I think when I get my 5D2, I'll have the perfect combo (for now). 5D2 for resolution, 1D3 for speed, and XSi for personal/travel/family/etc... A tool for every task.

Bonus points should be awarded for the double double entendres of "poll" and "tool."

As to the OP, two. I only legitimately need a back up for a third of what I shoot, so I probably could get by fine with rentals, but as long as the hobby pays for itself, I have no problem hanging on to two.

Yeah, well I'd like to have a couple of D3X's but there is no such thing yet.

2 1D2N's, at the moment. I mostly shoot Sports & PJ, so as I could afford the upgrades, I bought the most rugged bodies, that could handle the use/ occasional abuse. I will be adding another 5D, or maybe a 5DII/50D, to my stable, to have as a smaller form factor body for family stuff & trips. My wife will use my N's, but would like a smaller body for her small hands. Just another reason, to spend more money on gear.

The 5D is my primary camera for slow moving objects. For motorsports, I use a 1D Mk II. I will occasionally take out the 20D for (e.g.) hiking, cycling, or other times when I want to travel light and reduce the risk of carrying a valuable camera around.

I just made a deal for another 1D Mk II so the 20D has to go.

I have a 30D and 40D.
I'd like to have a 5D to add to the mix, then eventually phase the 30D out in lieu of another 40D or 5D.

2 for me, a 5D and an XTI. Typically I only bring one body with me. The exception is when I go out landscape shooting I always bring both. I do wide angle (24-70) with the 5d and have my 70-200 mounted on the XTI (which I carry on a tripod) for when I need to pull in close.

I voted 2 although I have 4. I only use two, 30D and 5D. My 10D sits in the closet with a possible IR conversion in it's future. And I have an EOS 2 body sitting in a drawer somewhere. Oh and I didn't include my 2 point and shoots.

I'm not a pro, but I have 7 SLRs: EOS 3, Elan, Fm3A, EOS 3, EOS 40D, EOS 50D, EOS5D & EOS IX. The IX and Elan haven't been touched for many years but are less valuable than the postage it costs to mail them. I also have an ancient Miranda F (no meter!) and a 1952 Zeiss Ikonta I use as paperweights.

Rebel xt and EOS 3 are my main bodies now, I guess. but when I can I 'borrow' my mother's 40d and I have a film rebel and minolta sr-t and I use whatever I can get my hands on from school as well which has so far included a fuji 690, mamiya 7ii, and Nikon f3.

but usually no more than 2 at a time or I feel ridiculous.
