Hi-

I just got the 50D yesterday and took some test shots, but I am unable to open them in Photoshop. It says file type not recognized. I am shooting RAW. I searched for a solution, but didn't find anything.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

Open it in DPP.

You'll have to wait until Adobe releases an update for Camera RAW before it will read 50D files. It should be anytime now...

Sarah, install DPP from the disk that came with the camera......you can do all RAW conversion/adjustments, then transfer to photoshop for fine tuning.

just expanding on Gary's response

Okay...I've never used DPP before. When I try that i don't see any images. Just boxes with "x" through them.

Thanks guys!

Installing from the disk now...maybe that was the issue. Wouldn't open with the version I already had.

make note that DPP will open and process the RAW file and present it to you with whatever picture style is set in the camera. The style does not affect the RAW, just gives you a starting point/option.

In DPP, you will be able to select any of the picture styles....the standard is most common for saturated/pre-sharpened JPG

You can download the Adobe Camera Raw beta that works with Photoshop CS3.

what version of photoshop are you using? CS2 or before wont have support for the 50D anyway. (you can use the free DNG converter from adobe though)
