in case some of you guys have to have the new toy, here is your chance. A local store in PA has 7 units as of now. I bought the first one over the weekend from them also. They also have their ebay store:

no idea. Just like Robert Images sold me the Nikon D3 at $50 below the MSRP price compare to BH at the time when no one even has it in stock yet.

My dealer got them too. I don't think this is early.

Buydig and DBROTH both have them in stock as well (and crutchfield and a million others).

Looks like they're also available on Amazon now through third party sellers.

Ha they've been in Australia for a week or 2, but we have some scumbags shops asking $2699, and wanting $2099 for 40D.

I'm in PA so I went ahead and ordered one from H1 Photo via their ebay store. Only bad thing, I had to pay PA sales tax.

What is for sure that once the rush is over the price will drop...only people who can't understand the current financial meltdown will believe otherwise...

Over here (The Netherlands) it went from 1399,00 euros to 1349,00 euros before it even was in store... When it did hit the shelves prices kept falling... To its current level of about 1150,00 euros. But once it becomes available through the smaller resellers, I expect the prices will go down to 1050,00 euros this month.

it here. First impression: i like it. I don't think it will have major upgrade over the 40D but since i use this mostly for birding, i don't pay attention to low iso. Huge LCD with better resolution.

new kid to my family.

This will be typical..dealers will hold out for the max price to milk the gear geeks.....then expect a quick drop as they scramble to attract the cost conscious photographers who may or may not upgrade...depending on whether the enhancements are worth the additional finance...

Hell...some photographers might think a (cheaper) s/h 5D is a better proposition (as they fall in price thanks to the mk2 model!!

Bubble,

Please keep us posted on how the 50D focus is for moving objects. I am considering the same combo you have.

I currently have the 1DSmk3 for my main camera and have my 1DSmk2 as backup. If the 50D is good for Birds in Flight, and Sports, then I would sell the mk2 and get the 50D.

Wow, that was pretty quick. 30 days or so from announcement to in stock. I hope that means the 5DMK2 will be in stock in 3 weeks!

Darrell
don`t sell the 1dsmk2 or you might well be sorry mate. I still say that in a lot of ways, with the right lens on the 1dsmk2 is a really good compromise.
