A lot of digital shooters still use film as well...for a variety of reasons. Any reason why a film forum dedicated to all things film wouldn't be a useful addition to this site?

Nope. Might be a good idea. Sorry, let me re-phrase: good idea, might actually happen.

My vote for a film forum too.

only problem is you use the same lenses on both bodies... and lenses are more interesting than bodies (who wants to talk about my EOS 3 or Rebel G now?)... except when a new one is released or something... I think it would amost beg splitting into 3 forums, Canon SLRs, DSLRs and lenses...

+1 for an equipment independant Film Forum.

I hope that a film forum would be platform-independent.

Interesting.

Where will y'all meet to view your hard-copy prints?

View prints?? I thought most people hung out on the equipment forums just to speculate about rumors.

Ok, I guess they do occasionly post some good brick-wall shots and dollar-bills taped to wall photos .

Nope. We're here to exchange useful information and entertaining anecdotes. You must be thinking of another forum - name not dprevealed.

I think a Canon film forum would be a great idea! A (rare) thread here a week or so back made me realize how many people on this (bickering about) Canon gear thread are also still involved in film. Given the repetitive cycles on this gear thread driven by new body releases, I don't think splitting (or sub-dividing) into three categories would be a bad thing at all.

I'd love to see a dedicated film forum here on FM. It could be a pleasant oasis from all the gear whiners/complainers, and, at least for me, be educational. I started shooting 35mm film 30+ years ago, but I'd enjoy knowing more about current choices for processing/scanning, which older bodies/glass to use, etc.

I would be also very much interested in film forum.

Don't make it a Canon film forum...make it a film forum where we can talk just as much about the film process as about the gear. In fact, leave the gear out as we already have enough gear forums here.

Can we please have subcategories, then?
I propose 35mm, 120/220, 4x5 and larger. For the obviously necessary Alternative Film Tread 110, 126 and Polaroid could be considered.
If positive film users feel repressed, or in any way left out, they could suggest a forum of their own. That way, the Nikon vs Canon debaters can happily continue with a Negative vs Positive war

Perhaps we should kick it off with at least 4 polls.

Sorry, but IMHO that's a silly idea. Film is film, and the principles which apply to 35mm also apply to 120, large format, etc. With multiple forums I'd surely miss something which might prompt me to try something new, and really how many divisions do we need here?

you may like to visit apug.org or photo.net ... heaps of dedicated film photographers there

It seems that this is a more digital forum...

yeah, that will stem the torrent of "which film is better" threads... hahaha... I guess it will cut the bi-weekly single "which film camera to use with Canon lenses" threads, but what's the point? I think film processing questions are already covered well enough on photo.net, rangefinderforum.com etc... but if the people here want it... doubt I'll hang out there (even if I do sell my digital and only shoot film...).

well, there are film shooters here as well... who want to discuss modern equipent, while most the film oriented places are geared toward classic mechanical cameras... Leicas etc... which are all fun as well, but when you discuss new Canon gear this place is a great rumour mill and nit picking place to hang out.

Okay - so I'm not funny. I WAS trying to be sarcastic...
