You don't remember Canon making a D60? Life was better with the old D60 - slow, yes. But, beautiful pics - 6 megapixels was good enough and I got some really satisfying photos from it. Ahh .. then the upgrade bug bit me. And now I have become a gearhead.

Un-troll me quick! I was talking about the Canon D60.

There's only one way to deal with trolls - acid or fire. Denying your foul allegiance to Bezelbub only makes it worse.

Who is Bezelbub - an LCD bezel-maker? Did you mean Beelzebub? If so, yes - we're closely affiliated. Grammar/Spelling police gives you a

How pathetic!

Indeed.

I suppose people compensate with their wallets, much like short fat bald men drive lifted gas guzzling SUV's with obnoxiously loud tail pipes - Yes, you need attention, we get it.

((((((((((((((I have some short fat bald friends and not one has a gas guzzling SUV's this is a lame statement Oh by the way I am not short and I am not fat but I have a ton of hair and I don't have a gas guzzler))))))))))))

Maybe they should look at some photo history books and feel bad (or maybe even inspired?!?) comparing their $10k+ trail of cameras to what some people shot on film with cameras that lacked auto focus and meters.

Don't get me wrong, if you get your jollies by geeking out and pixel peeping and "getting the best image quality" that you can afford for your candid shots of your dog running around in the grass and your cousins ugly baby, take joy from the wads of cash you are giving to Canon. I love you for it, it means someday, maybe in a few years, when my camera can no longer be repaired, they'll have enough of your money for R&D to make more great cameras.

The message is, enjoy photography. Photography is great. Art is great. Expression is great. Memories are great.

But if your enjoyment stems for spending vast amounts of money on the latest greatest gizmo, maybe take up a new hobby, like, seeing how many starving childen in Africa you can feed. It will be much more rewarding. Maybe you can send me a $1 pinhole camera and discover something amazing in them.

(((((((((((((Why not supply birth control? Also what is so wrong with helping the hungry people right here in the states there are many. Also what makes you think these people aren't donating money?))))))))))))

Rant mode off.

Cheers,
Thomas

I'm not all serious. Or, I'm not serious at all....hmm.

Supplying birth control is a failure. Lets just keep stupid people from reproducing. As for the SUV comment, you have heard of compensation, yes? Maybe your friends and yourself are comfortable with yourselves, maybe you're also comfortable with using your camera as a tool instead of pissing and moaning for the latest greatest gadget .

Cheers,
Thomas

Why the extra bits? They would only bloat the file size, and decrease the frame rate. 21MP would be overkill on an APS-C sensor, if the 50D is any indication at all.

Not a real functional improvement IMHO. Certainly not a reason for a new body, although every improvement is of course nice.

3) 8fps

Because the gulf between 6.5 and 8 FPS is so huge... How many Digic IV processors do you reckon would be needed for 8 FPS at 21 MP and 16 bits?? Do you think you're being rational about this?

Does that make a big difference in your shooting? I'm curious.

Not at all. They are afraid of iron, and if you can keep them talking on forums until daybreak they turn to stone....

I think Canon should name it the EOS 69D to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love!

The OP was intended as a joke/troll. Some of you guys swallowed the bait, hook, line, sinker and are currently chewing on the pole...

I just enlarged an old photo from the d60 to poster size for the studio wall. It looks magnificent.

I only shoot jpeg too. But i'm proficient with the camera so i can get away with it.

So what exactly you want so bad in your 60D that is not found in the 50D?

If you had spent some time browsing this and other forums, you would know that many users would like to have the features of the D300 in the XXD line : pro-AF with improved tracking, weather sealing, high frame rate, custom auto-iso, etc, etc.

If people don't like posts speculating about future camera developments may I suggest they don't read them in the first place rather than getting all grumpy. This is a hardware forum after all.

Heck forget the 60D, where is that dang 80D?

45 megapixels
30 FPS
Digic 5 (dual)
HD Video (comes as a separate camera)
Dual CF Slots
Photoshop CS5 comes with it (plus LR lite)

All for under $1399.00

50D replacement will most likely have a Pro-AF, other things I don't care. I was right when I said 5Dmk2 was gonna to be a 21 MP Dslr. Of course no one knows what the replacement will be called.

Probably whistling in the wind, but please... no more pixels. Stick with the current sensor density and refine the high ISO performance.

Video is a given, and I suppose there are operational things that could be improved, but really, the 50D is pretty amazing to shoot with compared to earlier models. But I recently looked at some of my old ISO 1600 20D RAW files, and there is a *lot* less chroma noise in them than in 50D files.

It would be great to obtain this same high ISO performance a 15Mp file.

I don't believe you. No camera can take good photos after its successor has been released, much less announced. This image is a fraud and must be from another body.

For a Utah ski trip last month, I was carrying a 50D (note camera bag) and gave my brother the "old" 40D ... and that seems to still work fine. Although there are plenty of better things to take pictures of than yours truly ... ;-)
