So, here it guys! The rumours were true after all! And it paid off waking up early.

Also a 24/1.4 II, like rumoured:

I must, personally, say, that I’m quite disappointed with the specs. 3.9 fps, 9 focus points, and grip, for example, doesn’t look more interesting than the BG-E4 at all.

Time will tell how it’ll perform though!

Looking good!

I was looking for a new body to build an underwater setup...this is going to be the camera.

Check out the Direct Print Button! I love it!

Only dissapointment is the AF. Why not a 19 point AF? Great job Canon, I'll be getting one for sure, especially if its at $3k.

Anyone else notice it's got a built-in flash?

Megapixel rich, feature poor. No surprise, except for the HD video maybe.

There's definitely no built-in flash on this camera.

Interesting that they decided to go with a new battery system. Not a deal breaker by any means, but I liked the idea of using the same batteries as a backup XXD body.

I think that was sarcasm.

It is even compatiable with EF-S Lenses.

Hmm...according to Canon, the 5D II is compatible with all Canon EF/EF-S lenses

EF-S?

Sounds very intruiging.

Curious if it can auto-focus while shooting video in HD?

Obviously won't be using phase detection, but seems like contrast-based AF could be used.

Update: Thanks to aero145 who points out RobG's more detailed notes (versus DPR) that does confirm that contrast-based AF can be used while shooting video.

Looks like the EF & EF-S lens question will have to be answered later, as on the actual "spec" sheet by Canon it states EF only....

According to Canon's spec sheet, it does.

Digital, single-lens reflex, AF/AE camera with built-in flash

Well, after looking more closely at the pics it definitely looks like another typo on Canon's website specs.

I cannot imagine how EF-S lenses will work properly on a FF. It must be a copy-paste error by DPR. And its now correct on the specs sheet on DPR.

What are the specs going to be for the 5d mkIII?

Galbraith says this:

Autofocus is functional both before and during recording, but as its the contrast detect type it will be slow. The lack of true tracking autofocus will limit its usefulness during capture. That said, the fact that the camera can be refocused without first stopping the capture or resorting to manual focus is a step up from no autofocus at all.

From the DP Review page: Lens support Canon EF lens mount (not EF-S)
