The image has Karsh-like qualities to it. The expressions on the subjects' faces are very telling and multi-faceted. And, the placement of the subjects speaks subtle volumes relative to the mother-daughter relationship.

Thank you for sharing this with us. It's haunting - and beautiful.

Hi Samie
What a powerful photo, love the angle of the horizontal plane, & the vast silence created by the space around the subjects.
It is imposibe to date this photo well done

Wonderful! And a good reminder to us that we often could be making more precise and thoughtful choices with our subject matter...

I hate to just say "me too", but this is a great portrait. Wonderful expressions and use of space.

great photo -- i like the contrast, the composition, and
the moment that you caught
it's actually the style of Irving Penn, not Karsh, but that aside!
i'm not so sure about the grain -- i'd love to see this photo
razor-sharp and without visible grain -- it would be very
powerful -- but no matter how it is rendered, this is a great photo

This is a classic. The simplistic diagonal lines of the table and the grain really add to this image. 50 yrs from now this will be even better and precious. Kudos for this one.

Me too, Samie. I also like the use of space. The stark quality of the lighting is reminiscent of some of the fashion photography out of the late 60's - early 70's.

Very creative.

Sorry I am getting around to commenting on this photo so late. I saw it some time ago and didn't have the chance, but I really love this one. I am just learning and this portrait is a real inspiration. I love the expressions and the contrast. It is a very simple, but emotional photo.
