I think there is a high possibility the new 5D will be around 21mp ....you guys are forgetting that Sony is coming out with an FF with 24mp this year (not to mention others possibly in 2009)

Where is the 1D Mk III N rumor thread? Yeah and the mk IV rumor thread, and the 3D rumor thread and the 7D rumor thread and the 1Ds IV rumor thread and the EOS PRO 1 rumor thread and the Canon Medium Format rumor thread ... .pfff. Man Yakim I guess it was clear Fred wants us to keep them all together. Maybe the topic header should have been "Canon DSLR Kina rumors" instead of the 5DII rumors?

Anyways, to get back to your suggestion / rumor? Would you think it's realistic Canon replaces it's full line of cameras within a few months during 2008. So shortly after the 1000D and the 450D, they deliver the 50D and a 5D successor and a 1D series successor? So what would PMA 3-5 march next spring bring us? Of course we want some new glass next to the 18-200 mm IS as well. We don't want to put pressure on Canon and we demand full quality control neat logistics and full supply immediately after introduction else we'll bash the company that'll never listen to us consumers while we have so realistic expectations. Because we only want to have EOSfun

Where is the 1D Mk III N rumor thread? It has been 1.5 years between the 1D Mk II and the 1D Mk II N and 1.5 years since the 1D Mk III was introduced. We'll look silly if it will be introduced in Photokina and we will not have a proper rumor thread on it...

I'll start.
12-16 MP
2 X DIGIC 4 (If the 50D has it…)
10-12 FPS
1.3X
3" VGA screen (If the 50D has it…)
AF in LV (If the 50D has it…)

Please create one and put this on top. 10X.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

That would be a MKIV

'N" is a refresh, which I don't think we'll see.

Ok EOSfun, curiosity has gotten the better of me! What gives with "EOSfun"?! Not only is it your screen name but I've noticed you work it into the text (in admittedly creative ways) of virtually every one of your posts. Do you have some kind of copyright on this word? Is this an attempt at subliminal marketing? Is it a photographic store in the Netherlands that you're promoting? Or is this just "personal branding" run amok?!

canon upgraded the 40D due to mounting pressures from nikon's offerings. why would they not upgrade the 5D, now that nikon has thrown down the gauntlet in the form of the D700? (odd that nikon has been doing a lot of that lately
...)

No they didnt. They didnt pull this cam out of their ass they have been working on it for quite some time. They may have accelerated the release by 6 months though.

If a 5DmkII is in the works for release for sometime in the next 3 months, you can bet it's been on the drawingboard for some time.

Personally I cannot believe they wouldnt take the 50D, put in bigger prism, bigger mirror and sensor, and grant us all 16.7mp, beautiful ISO6400. usable ISO12500 and 5fps for $3399

And ESOFUN is Nufose backwards.

If you think of the Dutch as Germans with a silly side, you will be closer to understanding....

Hmmm... sadly, my Dutch mother-in-law never possessed a silly side so I'm still baffled.

I expect that the sensor tech was behind schedule, or they agreed to let Nikon back in the game. I don't think its in Japans interest for Canon to wreck Nikon DSLR business.

As far as the 5DII, I'm not sure what would be wrong with a 50D type camera with a big sensor.

glad to see I have support against the "eosPhun" disease that's been spreading lately. Imho, he should be charged with overabusing a word and jailed in a canon factory just for EOS-Fun and EOS-KICKS. He reminds me of Z Auztin Powers in "Z Goldmember" moviez.

Keep at it eosfun. I always enjoy your posts, even when they don't have eosfun in them.

Northlight credits their rumor to Canon Rumor who posted this...CR gave it a credibility rating of 3 out of 5...they also had the magenta (?) 5DII labeled as a "For her" model but didn't name the creator:

"* 21.1 MP 1.0x
* DIGIC IV
* ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
* 5 FPS
* 3.2" High Resolution Screen (LCD)
* 19 point AF
* HDMI Out
* Liveview
* HD Movie Mode
* Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
* Full weather sealing
* EF Lenses only"

Bear in mind that there are 2 levels of credibility above this rumor ranking.

Those would be nice specs but they can keep the movie mode. I'm not buying a camera with movie mode. I have a P&S with it and I don't use it. I certainly don't want it on a DSLR.

That's exactly what they are going to do, IMO.
I even think that the 5DII sensor will be a FF version of the 15mp 50D sensor.
They will definitely put the pro AF in the 5DII as well - or at least the 19-point subset of that AF system (all f2.8 sensitive points but without the non-selectable tracking points of the 1-series).

That would be a universal problem - nothing to do with being Dutch or not

I don't think those specs would be called 5D MKII. I think it would be called 3D. Unless Canon has something in mind for an even higher-end small camera.

I would be surprised at movie mode being included. I think we would see that first in a lower-end camera. Viewfinder is not going to be 100%.

What I see in that list is a compilation of best wishes. If the list came from knowledge it would include some of the neat new 50D features. I am sure the cool new 50D stuff will be in the 5DII.

Actually, it IS - - if you look closely, he misquoted EOSFUN's namd as ESOFUN - - EOSFUN backwards would be NUFSOE

at 2799$ you expect too much! 3.0 LCD LIKE 50D is enough,and an AF sistem with 15 AF POINTS(only 9 cross type),really good "HIGH ISO PERFORMANCE"-BETTER than D3(remember,this was and is still the no1 advantage of the ORIGINAL 5D: IQ).weather sealing just like 50d,microadjustment,4fps,liveview with AF ,100%VF,150.000 shutterlife and that's all, I don't think that it's gonna be better than that!!!! CANON will never put in danger the 1 SERIES!!!!
