Hello guys and gals,
Not everyone likes to see so many threads on this subject, so I decided making a Canon 5DII rumors thread. Those interested in this subject could easily find it and others trying to avoid it, now have a choice to bypass it
Some other 5DII rumor threads might be merged in here. Thanks for your cooperation.

This is a great idea - multiple versions of the same basic thread become annoying - & frustrating when they're not clearly labeled as such.

Now can we have one thread for the various incarnations of the Canon losing market share to Nikon?!

Thanks Guardian!

Back on topic. That rumoured tech spec for the 5D replacement does look very impressive. http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/Canon_5d2_3d_7d.html

Thank You!!!! Hopefully this will help reduce some of the forum clutter, but will make it hard to be up on the current "My Grandma's sister's friend knows the brother of a guy who works for Canon and said..." threads.

12th of september. As far my dealer told me then NDA runs out and evrybody who knows anything is allowed to tell. So its just another two weeks. After half a year of rumours that will pass away easyly.

But after what happened with 50D the new 5D will not have only an overworked sensor and Digic III (what would imo make it to the camera with world leading IQ) I guess.
It will blow all competitors away and I will be happy. If I can afford that tool.

Ralph, I don't understand what you mean by this - are you saying that dealers will have some kind of Canon gag order lifted on Sept. 12th?

@globalkiwi:

My dealer told me, not to purchase the 5D. "Wait till 12th of september." he said. "Than NDA (non disclosure agreement) is finished and we will know everything what they show on photokina."

exactly what I thought. If the new one does not offer 300.000 shutter cycles and is priced over € 2500, I might be happy with a "new" old one, too.

Those are some terrific specs...it'd be nice if they were true! I'm already first on the list in my area for a new body (if indeed there is one)...desperately need to get out of my 1D III's for something I can rely on (and again, here's to hoping it WOULD be something I could rely on).

It's Canon that should feel silly if they don't upgrade it.

I swore after my MK3 experience I would never be an early Canon adopter again. I just hope my current 3yr old 5D holds up awhile longer. Who knows though... All I know, is they better get this right...I personally will not tolerate another MK3.

I am with you. I thought about how to purchase it. Build was all I was dreaming about. (then) High Iso flashed me. But I did not need 9 FPS and the resolution was far to low, compared to D5. And of course, I did not had the money. Today I am happy about. I would always wait for a quarter and make the purchase depending from testing it for some days NOW!

Spending money is lifetime one needed to earn ... lost money or anger is lost lifetime ...
Life should be pleasure, not beeing in anger. Those people creating a camera are businessmen, not photographers. If, that desaster would never have happened.

But those businessmen gave me tools to have pleasure, too. And to earn money. So I give them a second chance. With beeing carefull, off course. I think they did not want to put us over the desk. They did not know better. If they did their job, they do know better now.

Ralph

canon upgraded the 40D due to mounting pressures from nikon's offerings. why would they not upgrade the 5D, now that nikon has thrown down the gauntlet in the form of the D700? (odd that nikon has been doing a lot of that lately...)

canon must upgrade it. the question is only, aside from the standards feature bumps(micro AF adjust, live view, etc), what will it offer in the realm of weather sealing, max ISO and MPs?
