So, we all have seen much about the 5DmkII pricing. I don't want to go there. I am curious about what will happen to the 1DmkII, mkIIn and mkIII if a mkIIIn or MkIV is released in the next six months. The III is going for $3300-$3500 used - If canon replaces it (and makes it 'whole' again), what happens to the III? Will we see MKIINs for sub 2000$ in 2009? That would be tempting indeed. |

And MkIIIs will go sub 3k in 2009 if some refresh or new version is introduced this year. |

It depends how well the new cameras work. The 1D2 series initially dropped in value and then picked up a bit as people realised the 1D3 had serious poblems. My guess is that unless the 1D3 is well and truly fixed then it will have a value close to that of the 1D2N once it has been superceded. i.e. it will drop in value faster than the 1D2N did. However, such things will not affect Canon at all. They'll sell bundles of 1D4s if they actually work properly from day 1 and if they introduce some Nikon features. Price competition with Nikon amongst the new models will further drop the 1D3 prices. |

I guess you guys havent seen the mk III's going for under 3g already huh? Ive seen brand new grey III's for a little over $3500. Of course there are still those trying hard to get $3500 for a used one... I doubt they are having much luck. |
