hey all,

I will be doing a wedding in Greenville South Carolina in May and I will need to rent equipment and Im having trouble finding a place that does this. Im looking for camera and lenses, but also a profoto 7b batery setup with two heads and soft boxes. Ill be flying from California, so I cant bring much with me. Does anyone have any suggestions? I already tried calling the state newspaper (thestate.com) and talked to someone from the photo department, but their best suggestion was 8 hours away. I need something closer. Any help would be great. Thanks!

that's going to be tough my friend. Could you ship your stuff there ahead of time? Or rent before you leave (if you don't have the equipment in general)? This may eliminate the chances of you getting crappy equipment, or if you can find any at all..........

I am able to bring my camera, lenses and flashes. I do not have a lighting set up of my own and that is why I rent. Also, the set up I rent is really heavy, and the way the airlins are right now, I doubt they would go for that. Shipping might be an option, but its just all really heavy and awkward. Stands and soft boxes and stuff. eh....

I normally stick to California, but my cousin is getting married and she REALLY wants me to photograph it. I dont do destination outside CA for this reason.

You might try calling the Greenville News. The State newspaper is in Columbia, over an hour away from Greenville, and they might not be aware of something available in Greenville.

I'm using lensrentals.com in September. You may try them.

Atlanta has ppratlanta.com. They will ship and they have a great selection. I've used them many times for really expensive stuff - generators, 200/1.8, etc...you could even fly into/out of Atlanta instead (chances you will be connecting anyway, you might just get off in Atlanta and drive the two hours up and back to Greenville).

Do you know if they would ship something as heavy ad a profoto 7b setup with 2 heads and stands?

If you will pay to ship it, they will ship it. You will pay for the rental from when they ship until you return it.

Haven't posted very much and everyone has forgotten about me. Waves hand...Over here........
Chris, my studio is in Greenville SC. I don't have everything you're looking for, but I do have studio lighting with softboxes. Depending on the date, I may can rent them to you. You can email me at dennis@photographybydennis.com
Where exactly is the wedding? I've shot at 95% of the facilities and probably could give info as well. Yvette
