Sea Otters are such quirky creatures. It's easy to read a lot into their face and pose. In case its not obvious the reflection in the foreground is actually the light reflecting off this otters wet fur. Considering how dense their fur is it's impressive it takes on such drastic differences in appearance when wet versus dry.

I'm looking forward to photographing these amazing animals in September. If interested in joining I have a photo tour set up for a select few individuals.

And I thought it was a Koala bear That is a lot of facial character, I was looking for the sea urchin on his stomach for lunch Sounds like a charming tour, have fun!

Thanks Karl. It's amazing how expressive their faces are. I'm not sure who would win the "cute face-off"... sea otters or koalas.

Is this the Elhourn Slough Boat tour with Captain Yohan?
I live Not to far North of Moss Landing > I've been on this boat three or four times now...........

Fun boat to go on and the Capt is a pretty good guy

@Jenna thanks

@Ant indeed Captain Yohan is the best. The activity I'm lining up is far beyond the normal tour and conducted purely with photography in mind. It should be a lot of fun. For the 5-8 people that take part there should be ample elbow room to photograph the otters in a way that is nearly impossible otherwise.

@Anthony No worries Anthony. Long hours will do that. Otters are the focus but clearly there is a variety of wildlife here including seals, seal lions and a variety of shorebirds.

@Terry D Gotta love the faces of these animals. Thanks for commenting.

What a fantastic shot. I just love otters. I might have to shoot for one of your workshops...hmmm! Will have to see what my schedule is like then but it sounds like a lot of fun.

@genefixer Thanks. Not sure there are many creatures that can rival the cuteness factor of sea otters.

@ankeefoxtrot Thanks. You're welcome to join in the fun. Keep me posted if you can make it.
