sorry, but is there a focus priority setting in the 40D menu like the Mark III? I do not get often that much tack sharp pictures I want to. I might change the AF settings. Any idea?

Do you mean manually selecting the focusing points?

no, in the Mark III you can choose the setting "focus priority". It takes the pictures only, when the AF is logged correctly.

Oh, nope that's not an option with the 40D.

No option to change this on a 40D, wouldn't it be focus priority by default/design?

Can you post an image with EXIF that you are not happy with? Might help.

I believe if you assign AF on shutter button, then it will be focus priority, which means you can only fire when it is focused.

If you assign AF on * button, then you can release * button so that you can shoot even if it is not focused...
