This a local musician who came to the studio yesterday. I have many shots to work up yet, some with guitar, some without, but thought I would post this one for C&C.

It being washout is what makes it I think. I am thinkin it was very intentional

Yes, the processing is non-traditional, and quite intentional. Might not work for everyone (or anyone!), but I welcome any comments!

I think it cool, nothing we see everyday.

I like it a lot, especially the processing. My only nit is that he appears to be looking just past the camera. It's not quite enough "looking away" to appear intentional, but just enough that it appears that he wasn't quite looking where he was supposed to.

I like the washed out look. I like altering my pics to no end so I can appreciate anything that isn't "traditional", (but I can appreciate the traditional as well )

I like the PP you did to make his neck look three times longer than normal! That's great!!!

Haha, he is very thin and tall. His neck is long, but I assure you non of my processing has altered his basic morphology.

Thanks for the comments.

Added a pic with more "normal" lighting and processing. Same long neck.

Without being rude to the model, I find myself noticing his neck more than anything else in the photo or anything of the photographic technique

I like the processing on the first shot but his eyes also look unnatural, sorry Mr. Music Man

If you had not told me he was a musician, I would not have known it. My tried to put the instrument is possible somewhere in the photograph. Or at least something musical. But very nice work. These are just knit picks.

I really like the second image.

best

steve

I like the effect, and even the background choice in #1, where the (door?) frame passes through his head, something we often avoid. It places him in a 'less formal" setting than #2. It fits the overall portrait.

He is a unique character and that is part of the attraction of this photo. Good work Todd.

I simply have to ask: Where's his plow? Damn! I'm sorry. I'm trying to not do that anymore, but I slip once in a while.

i like both photos...i think your style and his are a very good fit for one another. he has a 'beckish' vibe to him. nicely done.

Interesting character to these shots. I like the second best, but both have a certain attraction to them.

Thanks to all of you.

Jim, it's actually a window in the first pic, which I allowed to blow out completely to get the right exposure on his face.

Good choice. You know when to break the rules (blown background, the frame thru the head) and come away with a better shot than if you 'followed' the rules. Sign a good photographer.

Hi Todd,

I like the #1 image the most due to the following reasons:

1. Tone and toning (use of color and the use of light/washed out look).
2. composition (tall)
3. Body/figure shown as key element (long and lanky)

I prefer the facial expression in the #2 image and think his skin looks better in the #2 image.

I hope these comments help you.
