It is difficult to be a bad photographer in Japan, but these are really outstanding. Thanks...

Grognard > thanks I've got some old pictures on my website, I hope you can see a sort of progression

dhogan > that's right but don't underestimate your pictures, you've got some really good japan shots in your gallery, I enjoyed browing through your favorites !

Alain, I enjoyed your series. Great work and I love the format. It inspires me to do some in that size too. Keep it up, love seeing new ones. Do you do much post-processing to these images (esp. curious about the saturation)?

thanks for your warm comment

about post processing, I do very very little, thanks to the colorful kimono my subjects tend to wear

I shoot the 1D3 with standard setting and AWB
I open the RAW in photoshop and ajust the color temperature in ACR : I try to get natural colors and skin tone
I crop in the format meant when shot (16:9 most of the time)
I had a bit of contrast if needed,
get back a little bit of details in whithes or shadows if needed,
and always sharpen (100%/0.5 most of the time)

that's all for 95% of the shots !

I don't like oversaturated and overcontrasted shots :/

Beautiful photographs. Compositions, colors, exposures are all spot on. You have a great eye. I think you have a book in the making here.
