I decided to work up one more picture from my maternity shoot earlier this week. The parents loved the first one and are ordering it on canvas. I plan on showing them this one over the weekend.

EDIT - I went back and reworked this as not seeing the mother's hair was really bothering me. Here is the reworked version:

I liked the other one better. The close up is very well done. This one has a bit of a soft focus edge around the mother's head that distracts from the overall feel of the picture.

Yeah, I rushed through this one a bit more than I should have. I think I may rework it completely if I decide it is a keeper.

Thanks for commenting.

The rework turned out superb. All three of the "mother" series are masterful. Great job.

I really like this - I actually like the soft edge around the mother's head...how did you learn your oil painting technique? Did you take classes or learn on your own. I actually ordered some of Susi Lawson's CD's - I'm really trying to get into this - I love the effect!
