Arrrgh. The D-300 leaves auto ISO on when the flash is on, my old D-100 turns Auto-ISO off when the flash is activated and then shoots at the selected ISO. The D-300 now just leaves it on auto, so now I've got a whole set of shots at ISO 3200 taken with flash.

Rubbish.

Are you listening out there Mr. Nikon firmware devleoper? Can I please have an option to turn off auto-ISO when I turn on the flash, like it used to be?

OK, rant off, next time I'll remember, I guess we do get set in our ways sometimes. It would have helped if I'd have looked at the info line in the viewfinder, but I didn't. Lesson learned.

Perhaps a suggestion to nikon to fix it.

It's really not such a bad thing to have. A lot of times when you're trying to shoot at higher shutter speeds or illuminate a larger area, a little ISO boost is needed for proper exposure. Nothing wrong with having the option to leave it off at certain shooting conditions either. But isn't it actually off until needed anyway?

I have Auto-ISO in the 'My Menu' area. You can only turn it on/off there. But I do that all the time and it's easy to find this way. An external button combo would be my firmware upgrade request.
